HomeStory is a licensed real estate brokerage that runs one of the country’s largest lender-offered agent referral networks. When a buyer works with a participating mortgage lender, they can choose to connect with HomeStory, which matches them with a short list of top local agents — experienced professionals with a proven track record of closed transactions, vetted at entry and measured on speed, updates, and results. Most buyers are already pre-approved through their lender before an agent is introduced.

Who the buyers are
Buyers reach HomeStory through their mortgage lender, so most are already pre-approved and financing is underway before you’re introduced. Many are first-time buyers who don’t yet have an agent.
What we ask of you
- Respond quickly to new referrals and keep their status current.
- Maintain an active license and good standing with your brokerage.
- Deliver the responsive, professional service clients expect.
What it costs
Nothing up front. You pay a referral fee from your commission only when a deal closes.
Keep your own business, brokerage, and other lead sources — participation is non-exclusive. Because referrals run through your brokerage, your broker approves your participation and signs a referral agreement with HomeStory before you begin receiving referrals.
Who can join
The HomeStory network is open to experienced, active agents. To be considered, you’ll need:
- An active real estate license in good standing.
- Affiliation with a brokerage that approves your participation.
- A track record of at least 20 closed transactions in the previous two years.
We re-verify each agent’s license status and brokerage affiliation annually.

Does my broker need to approve this?
Yes. Your brokerage approves your participation and signs a referral agreement with HomeStory before you start receiving referrals.
How many referrals will I get?
It depends on buyer activity in your area, your availability, and how quickly you respond. We don’t promise a specific number of referrals.
